The second edition of Roast and Rhyme took place on Sunday at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo. The event, themed ‘Soul on Strings’ brought together music, beer and meat in a fun packed combo.

The setting featured a comfortable and cozy environment bringing friends and families together to bond over great live acoustic music and meat roasting with beer as the perfect accompaniment.

The fete was well attended, with guests trickling in as early as 11 a.m. and continuing to pour in well into the night. For those who carried their own stoves/braais, on offer was a complimentary 4 pack of beer from main sponsors, Bell Lager.

The event had a number of vendors, from barbequed meat to candy others even kicked it up a notch by bringing maize.

Emceed by Roger Mugisha, this edition featured performances from Kaz Kasozi, Tonix, Babaluku and Irene Ntale.

For the most part, it put to shame popular belief that an event headlined by only Ugandan talent cannot hold its own. The attendance and mood at the activity were things to relish.

Among other things, “Soul on Strings” featured a raffle draw with a 32 inch Samsung flat screen TV as the grand prize courtesy of Bell Lager. A purchase of 4 Black Bells automatically entered you into the draw.

Lady luck shinned on a one Josephine Ntabazi who emerged winner, going home with a brand-new TV.

Irene Ntale was the last performance of the evening performing all of her popular hits for the best part of an hour to the delight of the crowd. DJ Crisio took over from her making sure his jam-packed mixes kept the crowd on their feet.

Roast and Rhyme is a quarterly event on the Ugandan social scene and organizers Swangz Avenue have committed to providing the best Ugandan talent at each event.
